03May07 · 8:36 PM · This chick is like Borat, but for real! She is a genius. As my friend bad boy said, her show should be called "Cultural learnings for make benefit glorious vagina."
24Mar07 · 2:37 AM · Some of you may know that your humble editor is also jiu jitsu fanatic. So, when I found one of - if not THE - best jiu jitsu fighters in the world doing a Borat impression, you know I had to post it. Check this out. VERY NICE!
30Nov06 · 5:39 AM · Check this video out of Sacha Baron Cohen from Comedy Nation 1998. It features his character Christoph (Kristo?), an Albanian reporter that was obviously the precursor to Borat. Enjoy!
Borat: My wife very scared from ah, men with, ah, Chocolate face. There... will be in this community?
Realtor: Uhhhh... there may or may not. They would have to be fairly well off to live in this area.
Borat: So, they would not behave like the other...
Realtor: Oh no, oh no!
Kazakhstan went to great lengths to dispute the intolerant image of the country portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen in his hit movie Borat. But was it all for show? A recent Reuters Alert suggests that Borat may have been more on-target than previously suspected. See for yourself. In the video above, Kazakh police can be seen bulldozing portions of a Hare Krishna village.
The reasons behind it are disputed. The police say the people took the land illegally. The people say they bought it fair and square. But in the article, Maria Golovnina hints at a more plausible motive - that Kazakh presidant "Nazarbayev has become increasingly sensitive to what he sees as a rising threat of religious extremism."
If that is the case, then the real question is, what kind of threat of threat do these people pose? Because last time I checked, Krishnas practiced non violence, vegetarianism, and yoga. So unless there is a militant wing I'm not aware of, then they don't seem to be much of a threat to anyone.
Maybe Borat was right? But instead of Jews or Gypsies, the real targets are the Krishnas? If so, this will have been the second time that the fictional reporter will have caused a PR nightmare for the central asian nation. Because without the intense international interest generated by the movie, Reuters might not have reported on this incident at all. Borat 2. Kazakshstan 0.
16Nov06 · 3:10 PM · This video clip features the lawyer, Oliver Tailleu, that is suing the producers of Borat on behalf of the frat boys shown in the trailer scene. They are going for fradulent Inducement and misappropriation of likeness, among other things. But at the bottom of the barrel, what they are really looking for is a payday.
15Nov06 · 5:06 AM · Always interesting to see how Borat promotes the movie when he visits another country. The news reports are just starting to filter out, which means that hopefully soon, the late night shows will follow. Both the Dutch and the English interviews with Borat were gold... lets hope that the Aussies can deliver the same.
